Where did we last leave off with my bedroom redecoration? Oh that’s right, with my digital bedroom mock up. It looks pretty close so far, right?
Let’s take a look at the before (with the prior owners wall color and some old pillows that I dug up…embarassing to post but this is real life people).
While we still have a ton to do to match up with my mock-up, the room seems transformative due to the massive change in wall color. The color is Benjamin Moore Mopboard Black and has a slight grey/blue tinge depending on how the light hits it. It worked out perfectly, because I honestly I couldn’t choose between a grey-black, a blue-black, or a brown-black, and this one seemed to have everything in one!
Bedding is obviously the next major change. I have wanted the Morgan bedding from Pottery Barn for the better part of 5 years now, because it’s classic and clean and looks like a hotel bed, which is my ultimate favorite luxury. Is that a bit redundant? Yes, probably, but it is. But I blame that on my husband who makes me watch Forrest Gump on repeat… “best good friend” is a common phrase in my house.
The orange pillow fabric is… yes of course, you guess it! My monarch butterfly print fabric available for sale on Spoonflower! The ikat fabric I picked up from Joann’s which I thought was a nice compliment to my print but has a little more of a global feel.
The final change that I’ve made so far is painting the front of the doors on our Ikea Malm nightstands. These are truly nightstands with 9 lives as I think I have reinvented them several times, but this iteration is my favorite yet. The white front gives it a mid-century modern feel, and once I drill in some nice gold pulls, they will then have the touch of glam they need to really be me.
So far we are thrilled with the dark color of the walls. We have one giant wall of windows so we do get a lot of light, but we love the more intimate feel of the bedroom and its so much more conducive to sleep. The white bedding really pops against the walls, and we have quite a bit of white furniture in the room which stand out and now look intentional instead of random. Once I’m finished with the rest of the room I will share with you all of the other changes!
