San Miguel de Allende was the perfect Mexican locale for a mother-daughter trip- to see the local artisans, enjoy delicious mexican fare, and stare in awe of the colorful Spanish Colonial architecture. We loved walking around exploring the streets and finding different things to photograph. I wore a new dress that I made from my own red floral gradient design from Spoonflower. As you guys know by now I have been designing prints that are available for sale on Spoonflower, where they will print your design on anything from cotton jersey to faux suede to organic cotton, silk crepe and spandex jersey. It has opened up so many doors of innovation for me, because now I am able to think of how the fabric would be used in the end result, and design from there. I had this idea for a simple flower gradient to dot print, where the dots slowly turn to petals and then add on until they are complete flowers, and then fade out again. I wanted to strategically place the heavier floral part on the top and bottom hem of the a line dress, and layer a fun pom pom trim on top to add movement and give it a Mexican vibe. I love the wide neckline of this dress, as it is incredibly flattering on the chest, but remains modest and covered up everywhere else. The cotton breaths easy and there is plenty of room to move, perfect for a warm vacation of touring around.
Topping off the look with my favorite flat straw hat from my trip to Hong Kong and these amazingly comfortable espadrilles, I was both ready for an adventure and some guacamole. Ole!
