35 Week Bumpdate
Due Date: June 5, 2020
Baby’s Gender: A boy!
Cravings/Aversions: Still no real aversions, and still cravings for cereal. Basically this far into the pregnancy anything goes. I typically try to show some restraint with my eating and calorie intake to make sure I’m not overdoing it for the first part of pregnancy, but we have reached the point now where anything I want, I get.
Size of Baby: We have no idea since we haven’t been to the dr. in person in what feels like a decade! I will go next week, not that they will be measuring the baby at that point. BUT- this baby feels much heavier than Marina, which is great, because we were so worried about her health and size at this point for her. I can tell this baby weighs more because of the increased weight against my lower back, and pressure against my bladder, lungs, and stomach. I am shocked to realize what even an extra pound can probably feel like in your uterus, but let me tell you, it’s significant!
Total Weight Gain: About 24 pounds. It’s probably a bit on the lighter side for this pregnancy ironically, but I am confident it has more to do with my eating and working out habits than it does the size of the baby.
Exercise: Because we are still ‘sheltering in place’ (you can read more about this in my 30 week bumpdate here) a lot of things are different about this pregnancy. But one thing I’ve managed to do more of is work out. Not necessarily the 45-60 minute spin workouts that I did last pregnancy, but more focusing on getting active every, single, day. I’m surprised at what a difference it’s making but I truly think that getting in at least a 30 minute heart pumping walk, let alone a 30 minute DanceBody class is making the difference to my body. I still try to do yoga 2-3x a week and strength here and there when I can fit it in, but most of the time that happens when I am multi-tasking with Marina as opposed to a clear workout.
Favorite piece of clothing to wear right now: You know what? I am actually rotating through my Rent the Runway Unlimited subscription even though I have nowhere to go. I’ve been renting fun outfits and dressing up at home wearing no heels, which honestly, might even be more fun than dressing up to go out somewhere. I definitely still wear a lot of sweatpants and workout clothing, but there is a healthy mix of dressing up and lounging around.
Symptoms: The strangest thing. The next quote is literally an exact work for word excerpt from my 35 week bumpdate from my last pregnancy, and is absolutely true this time as well:
“I have a sharp pain under my left breast that wakes me up often at night, and I can’t figure out what it is. It could be milk coming in, it could be heartburn, or it could just be sleeping pains. I’ve been trying to track it to make sure it isn’t a sign of something dangerous, but haven’t found any correlations or patterns. I’m sure it’s just another weird pain that pregnancy brings on!”
Completely bizarre because not only do I have the same pain this time, but I also have it when I lean forward, which makes my feel like my breast is ripping off my body. It hurts like hell, but I NEVER would have remembered it if I hadn’t written it down last time! I am so glad I kept track of all of this, because otherwise, I would probably be freaking out again about breast cancer or some other disease.
Baby Movement: Feels like it’ non-stop. I am also keeping track of the baby’s busiest times, which I think will be interesting to compare to his awake/feeding times when he is out of utero. For the last week, they have been:

What I’m stressing about: Same things as the last two bumpdates; coronavirus and health concerns, not-being able to leave the house much when I am in my 4th trimester, where the baby will sleep, and if and when our life will ever be normal again. Now add to that the fact that we are seriously struggling with baby names and still don’t have anything pinned down, which is freaking me out. I like to have everything planned out ahead of time, and I want to make this baby a blanket so that we can have it for pictures and things when he comes home… but now that is looking like it won’t happen!
