This week I am in Tahoe celebrating the 4th of July holiday, and I am reminded of how simple life is in the lake/mountains. Whenever I pack for getaways like this, I want to pack as little as possible, but still get some bang for my proverbial style ‘buck’. I packed this embroidered tank top, and I find that it’s the perfect piece for hot days and warm nights, and a great layering piece even when the weather turns a bit chillier.
I know by now we all have one embroidered top or another in our wardrobe, but since the trend lately has been for exaggerated sleeves, the use case of them is much more limited. Great on a cooler night or heading to work, the sleeves are unable to do double duty like this embroidered tank top.
Worn with my favorite pair of denim (similar here and darker version here) and an oversize denim jacket, the tank feels easy and comfortable for late nights by the fire, walks to the lake, and casual dinners. Switching up the embroidered tank top with a more dressy tiered cotton skirt makes it more appropriate for dressier occasions, but still maintaining the same comfort level with easy sandals.
I love the idea of an embroidered tank top as well because the more you can incorporate texture and hand decoration into your wardrobe, the more elevated it will feel. A top like this is timeless, and ensuring that it’s made by hand or will last longer than the latest trend supports my slow fashion ethos. Buy less, wear it more! More and more when I travel I look for items like this that do double duty, to streamline my packing so that I can focus on what’s most important- the adventure!
