In honor of earth day, I feel it necessary to check up on the vow I made a few years ago to shop more ethically and sustainably. There are lots of ways to do this, as I have discussed in this post, but overall, the best choice is to buy less, and wear what you buy more. Livia Firth, the pseudo leader of the sustainable fashion movement, has said that if you don’t think you will wear something at least 30 times, then you shouldn’t buy it. So, I’ve kept that in mind even with some of my ‘louder’ purchases, tracking my wears, and learning a lot about my style in the process. My hope is that it helps you to buy things that really speak to you, that you love to wear over and over again, even if they seem bold or crazy, and to find the right basics that are timeless and versatile. Or maybe it will just make you take a second look at your own closet and try to re-think some of the items you already have!
