Ahhh we’re already 3 months into 2019 and I’ve been a mom for over a year! Time is seriously flying and I know one thing for sure… it will keep going faster and faster. So far 2019 has been full of revelations for me, both personally and professionally. I just got back from a creative women’s conference, Alt Summit, in Palm Springs, and I feel re-invigorated and inspired with this blog and my brand, and I think that although I had some pivots to make in the last 6 months, I am finally back on track.
Some of my Q2 goals might seem reminiscent of goals I’ve had before, and that’s because I literally tried for this last year but having a child derailed me. SO, I am going to try to reach some of these goals again, with the hopes that this time I am in a better position for a more positive outcome.
But let’s look back at Q1 shall we?
Goals 1: Decide Which Business to Pursue
Done and done. You don’t need to know what the businesses are, believe me. But I am focusing on what is right for me at this point in my life, and with Marina’s developmental level, which really affects the time I have. So, I achieved this goal, and feel great about what my focus should be for the rest of the year.
Goal 2: Actually break ground on ONE of my bathroom renovations
Omg this is a fail and I can’t even believe I am writing that. At the beginning of the year I seriously thought I had so much time, but planning out renovations and coordinating deliveries takes a long time! Anyway, although we have not ‘broken ground’ exactly, the cabinets I ordered 4 weeks ago are being made and on their way, which means our contractor will start demolition and renovation very soon. And get excited because I’m taking some risks with wallpaper and design and can’t wait to show this to you on the blog in a few months!
Goal 3: Return to my Pre-Pregnancy Weight
Wow did I get this one in right on time. I made a focus of getting into a workout routine in 2019 and it really has paid off. I wrote a lot about that in this post which has gotten a lot of attention, so definitely pop on over for a read! So yes, I am back to my pre-pregnancy weight and I am feeling stronger than I have in years. It’s of course always a struggle to maintain, but I’m willing to put in the time and effort to keep the weight off until the next pregnancy!
Now let’s look forward!
2019 Outlook: Q2
Renewed focus on brand collaborations
This is VERBATIM what my goal was this time last year, and it’s crazy how it’s relevant again. So here we go… take 2:
This of course is always a focus for my business, but for the past 3 months I have been transitioning the blog, which hasn’t been the right time to pitch many new brands on longer-term collaborations. There are many brands I use consistently and post about time and time again on this blog, so I really want to focus on collaborating with them to create even more exciting and REAL content for you.
Incorporate More Video Content into my Posts
I am super late on the trend but 2019 needs to be for me, the year of the video. I think it’s time to start a YouTube Channel and would LOVE to hear from you what you would be interested in seeing from me, and if you would subscribe! I think it could be a mix of sewing/DIY and fashion/styling, but I want to make sure it’s all not only relevant to your life but DIFFERENT than what else is out there. Please share your thoughts!
More Marina and relationship-centric outings
It’s hard to set a specific numeric goal around this one, but both Marina and Mr. R need more dedicated time. Marina is starting to appreciate museums, story times and music classes more, so I want to become a member at a few museums to provide more opportunities for her to get out of the house. Mr. R is pretty similar, in that he (and I) need more dedicated time wine tasting or going to a show/movie etc. I know ‘more time’ is basically impossible, but we are trying to be more focused on our schedule during the week, to allow for more fun on weekends. That means no workouts on Saturdays, and getting computer work done early in the morning to free up our minds for the rest of the day. We also love taking a TRX class together on Sunday mornings, and having that scheduled in allows us more freedom to do fun things the rest of the weekend, which is what we all need!
