Last weekend Mr. R treated me to a meal of divine proportion, a place where I have been dying to go since it opened, but the stars were never aligned. This date was for a particular celebration- to be revealed later- at Bobby Flay’s new restaurant in lower Manhattan, Gato. Mr. R and I have been to a number of trendy and acclaimed restaurants in NYC, but this one truly stood out above the rest. The flavors were Spanish obviously, but the combination of spices and textures was extremely unique and forward-thinking. Each dish was perfectly seasoned, with the right touch of sweetness and spice to linger on your tongue. I swear I have never had anything as good as the scrambled eggs on toast; this is not a breakfast dish, seriously look it up! But also the trio of bites that we started with along with the steamed halibut were truly surprising and unique. I would go back in a heartbeat, so anyone who’s out there looking for a date tomorrow night I am free!
As for the dress, it was a warm evening as it happens in NYC, and Gato is only a few blocks from our casa. I slipped this little number on, along with my new favorite lip color (so nineties right?) and we slinked our way over to dinner. I love how light and sexy this dress is. The bias cut makes gives a slight hint of constriction, even though the design is carefree. I now think every woman needs a piece like this in her wardrobe.
