I definitely scored during the black friday sales, the best of which was this color block stripe turtleneck. We all know I love stripes in any form. What I love about this particular stripe is the color blocking down the front, paired with the bright color combination. It makes it really easy to match back to white, grey, royal blue and red, all colors in my styling wheelhouse. Today however, I styled it with my mustard yellow coat from Project Realway Challenge 2, to play off of the primary colors.
Is it weird that my head reels with different ways to style this turtleneck? I have a bizarre need to run through 3 different outfit ideas in my head before I buy something which I know is a good practice, but…. for this one I think I have 10. I wish I had enough time to shoot all the looks in one day for you, but as time goes on I will loop them all together so that you can flip through all of the looks in one place.
For now I’ve styled the stripe turtleneck with this faux leather pleated skirt from J.Crew. I recently lost my most favorite leather skirt in the whole world, one that I owned since I was 20. This skirt is not exactly a replacement (pockets please!) but it’s a more grown up and still flattering alternative. The length is just perfect for work or casual events, and I love where it hits on the waist. Even better is that it is faux leather. Since you would have to coat real leather with an artificial starch in order to pleat it anyway, this faux version is better for the price tag and the animals.
