From the SECOND I discovered Reissued Style (from my girlfriend’s blog, a-listed) I found not only a company that resonates with me, but one where I feel like the founder is my kindred spirit, even though we have never met! I couldn’t;t wait to share her amazing talent with you all, and I just know that this company will change how you look at your wardrobe!
Reissued Style is a one-on-one platform to reimagine pieces in your wardrobe that are no longer getting any use. Think of those items in your wardrobe that maybe have a small stain, or perhaps don’t fit anymore, or maybe are just out of style, but you simply can’t seem to part with them. This is where Reissued Style comes in. You simply send in a deposit to them and ship off your item, and within 5 days you will receive a sketch package with 3-5 design ideas to reimagine your piece. You can fill out the style questionnaire to receive designs based on your taste, or you can make some suggestions if you have something in mind. The designs vary in the level of complication, and the pay structure reflects the amount of work needed for each design. The prices start at $85 for a level one change (including your deposit), and go up from there depending on which design you choose. Read about how to get started here!
I am IN LOVE with this service, and even though I sew, I can already think of quite a few items in my wardrobe that I would have Reissued. The level of creativity and skill set far exceeds my sewing abilities, and I was blown away with the result. Yes, there is a cost associated with the service, but there is a cost associated with buying something new as well, so why not have something in your wardrobe that you already love be re-imagined? And obviously I don’t need to point out that this is the far more sustainable option!
Let’s take my sweater I chose. The last time I wore it was in the first post of the re-launched The Style Safari back in 2015. I always loved the lines of this light wool sweater, and I stopped wearing it (the cropped length was a bit annoying) but never threw it out. I sent it to Felicia at Reissued Style and mentioned that I loved the hybrid sweater/shirt styles that Sacai is known for. Felicia sent me back a few sketches shared below, and I picked option C to add some length to the sweater (although I am OBSESSED with adding the mongolian lamb on the sleeve option… maybe I will send in another sweater?).
She sent back the sweater shortly after completing it and this past weekend I wore it twice. As a sewer myself, I was immediately blown away by the quality. Sewing and finishing knits is difficult, especially when attaching to a woven. And the back pleats in the shirt and hand-sewn on buttons showed that she put as much thought and care into the shirt as if it was her own.
I love how comfortable and easy to style the sweater is now, and I love how unique it is; to me, and to my wardrobe. HUGE thank you to Felicia at Reissued Style. This is a killer service with sustainable mindset, that once you try, will become addicting. You will absolutely not be disappointed!
