Cargo Pants are one of those often laughed at nineties styles that reminds us of American tourists in Disney World. As a child of the nineties I am certainly no exception. Styled wrong, they can be dowdy and unflattering, and at best, a great place to hide your keys and sunglasses.
Call it the circle of fashion or a throwback to my youth, but I’m digging cargo pants this season and have discovered a ton of new ways to wear them. Matched with on trend heels, off the shoulder blouses and statement sweaters, they are casual girl cool again.
Cargo Pants Styling Tips
I’ve styled these cargo pants in 6 different ways, for summer, travel, date night, work and hanging out with friends. When styling, here are a few tips:
Keep in mind proportion, as an oversize bottom often needs balance with a fitted top. If you are styling with a fitted top, use a statement belt to cinch in at the waist.
Roll up the hem of the pants to above ankle length. Notice I said roll, not fold!
Choose feminine textures such as lace and embroidery to balance out the masculinity of the cargo pants.
