This post has been sponsored by Zappos and Keds. I received product and compensation, but all opinions are my own.
When someone asks me what my style is, I frequently flubber and flux through a bunch of words like “adventurous”, “colorful”, and “traveled” that I think describe my bold fearlessness to wear bright colors, large prints, and over the top accessories. But the reality is I am also a mom, and one that travels all the time, so I’ve had to make a lot of alterations in the past 2 years or so to refine my style into something that is comfortable to run around in, versatile, and easy to pack up in a suitcase. I try not to sacrifice my adventurous spirit, but merely accessorize it in a way that makes it much easier for me to be bold while on the go.
I love how crisp white accessories look against the color and print I wear, so I often pair a white pair of sneakers with white sunglasses, sort of as the two slices of bread my crazy outfit sits between. I wear classic white sneakers almost any day, as I think that they make any outfit look fresh and youthful, and allow me to be literally on my toes, for whatever challenge motherhood brings my way. My latest obsession are the Keds Ace sneaker, one half of my style sandwich, so I’m thrilled to be able to work with them on this post. I’ve worn Keds for years, and love that the classic company has endured over years, ensuring that the shoes are good quality and timeless. I love the Ace because they are in leather… and trust me, keeping white leather clean is FAR easier than fabric. I just wipe these puppies down after my romp through the grass with Marina, and they look shiny and new!
Zappos has a variety of Keds styles that I love, so I’m also crushing on their collaboration with Kate Spade, which has a super cute pair of silver metallic sneaks that are seriously cool, easy to clean, and oh yeah, match Marina’s sneaks!
Finding shoes that fit Marina has been a problem. She’s in the 3% of size for children her age, which means that has been walking before we could find shoes that fit her, and have treads. Seems like not a big deal, but when you have a new walker, having good shoes that are made in small sizes are the difference between hourly face plants or not. Luckily Keds has her teeny tiny toddler size and she can run around in these all day without slipping or tripping, which is great for her, but exhausting for me!
I take the same approach to styling Marina as I do for myself, meaning namely, classic white kicks go with ANYTHING. That means all the crazy loud prints in children’s clothing, the tutu dresses, the rompers, whatever. Her Ace 3V sneakers give her the traction she needs and are still easy for me to wipe off when she tracks them through the mud. I understand that kids want their shoes to be fun, so the fact that these have the metallic velcro straps mean Marina always has something shiny to point at, and a little bit of glitter with her wherever she goes. Now I just have to find her white glasses to complete her style sandwich as well!
