Father’s Day is coming up, and this year it’s extra special as it’s Mr. R’s FIRST Father’s Day! He has taken on the role of ‘dad’ with flying colors, quickly becoming the apple of Marina’s eye and sacrificing so much in order to be around her and I as much as possible.
Before bringing Marina home from the hospital, Mr. R organized with his work to have a docking station and extra monitor at home so that he could more easily work from home, allowing him to come home early and leave late some days in order to spend more time at home. I was used to his 12 hour days, weekend work and busy travel schedule, so the fact that he is making the effort to be at home more means SO much to me, and of course to Marina as well. So instead of a boring desk with a monitor and keyboard, I decided to partner with Shutterfly to customize a few accessories for his desk to make it an even better place to work.
Much Better!
Looking around his desk now he will always be reminded of our little family, and why he is working from home in the first place! I chose to customize a variety of fun items he can see every day, from 10″x 14″ canvasses of our brand new baby and growing family, to a desk calendar with all the goofy Marina pictures that I don’t post on the blog (but are his favorite). I also made a beautiful paperweight of our little babe and a portable charger that he can take with him on the go to charge his phone (yes, I got him a custom case for that as well!) or his kindle.
My personal favorites are this customized metallic gold stripe mug, where I’ve included some of the most special pictures of him and Marina on, that he can use for a giant mug of coffee in the morning or as a pencil cup. I also love the customized notepad with his initials – I thought this was the perfect way to leave him little messages each week! I think all of these gifts are such a nice way to use some of his favorite photos, in a different and more clever way than just framing them all over the house.
And just to let him know that this desk is for me too… I also included a custom self-inking address stamp with our new address on it, so that he can help me send out all of our beautiful baby announcements with ease!
The customization process with Shutterfly was extremely easy- I chose from their hundreds of designs (there are so many great ones for new dads, techy dads, drinking dads… you name it) and easily uploaded my photos from my desktop. You can easily change fonts, colors, and wording on almost any style, so it is truly custom to your taste. I know that Mr. R will be excited for his new desk setup, because he’s already asked for pictures of her to put in his normal office desk at work. So, with any hope… this desk will now be so appealing to work in that he will be working from home even more often! What are you getting the dad in your life for Father’s Day this year?
Thank you to Shutterfly for partnering on this post!
