I love the Military inspired fashion. Somehow, every year military is back in style in some way, whether it be through the color, pocket details or patches/stripes that indicate rank. It’s so prevalent that I hate even calling it a ‘trend’.
Fun fact is that our first assignment in design school was to make a garment for a toddler. It was meant to be inspired by whatever we wanted, but it had to be fun and functional for a little kid. What did I make? A little camouflage jacket and pant combo with tons of authentically inspired pockets and star details. I thought a little boy (or girl) would love running around with their G.I. Joes/Janes and hiding them in their pockets etc. Strangely enough I am not a military fan. However I love the workmanship and details that go into traditional military clothing. Reinforced pockets, top stitching, and epaulets have always been like candy for me; it’s hard to explain but I go googly-eyed over those tiny details.
What I love about this look is how the pants are inspired by the military trend with the pockets, back cinch detail and vertical stripes, but how the shape is modern and sexy. The cropped shape allows for a great heel, and the high waist really shows off a woman’s figure. You wouldn’t think that a striped knit tank and loose khaki pants could have a bit of sex appeal, but the androgyny is what drives the mystery.
Zara pants, H&M tank, Zara heels (old), Stella McCartney sunglasses (old).
