My in-laws were in town this past weekend, and being that they are foodies, we decided a trip to Pt. Reyes and Tomales Bay was the perfect destination for a daytime excursion. The town of Pt. Reyes is riddled with tiny shops full to the brim with locally made cheeses (Cowgirl Creamery, no less), artisanal jams, handmade breads and funky-flavored chocolates. Our favorite spot on the bay is the Marshall Store, where they might only have a port o’ potty but they have smoked salmon with pickled onions and fromage blanc, and fresh oysters topped with chorizo and chorizo butter. There is no greater oxymoron than Pt. Reyes and the surrounding towns, but somehow having no cell service and delicious artisanal cheeses go hand in hand. More time to focus on the flavor, perhaps? Anyway, the town is quite windy so if you go I suggest layering up, like a did with 423960 shades of blue and grey. More print and texture is more, as I always say, even when you are just eating cheese sandwiches by the bay.
