It’s just starting to get chilly here in Northern California and this light blue blazer coat could not have arrived at a better time. Although I’ve only owned this coat for a week, I’ve already styled it 4 different ways, and my brain is whirring with new ways to wear it every day. It’s the perfect weight for weather in the 50’s and 60’s. The fabric is wool double cloth – a yearly J.Crew standard – so it’s warm but still comfortable to move in. I particularly love the slightly seventies cut of the jacket. The longer length is chic for work with jeans, and paired with a skirt and tights it works for a night out. The oversize collar will also be fun to play with, think layering scarves, brooches and the like. For this look I showed it in its natural state, but over the next few weeks I’m sure I will be showing it more and more with different accessories.
As much as I love my new light blue blazer, I am equally obsessed with this Anna Sui Dress. I can’t imagine an item of clothing that better describes my style. The print is bright and of course incorporates stripes, and it’s paired with a velvet flocked lace at the bib and sleeves. There is so much style and character packed into the fabric and details, that the silhouette can be simple and easy to wear. No matter how many years go by, this dress will always be fresh and quirky and interesting, and the girl rocking it will always be the most interesting girl in the room. Right?
You wouldn’t think that a light blue blazer and a crazy printed dress could be such wardrobe staples, but when you focus on the shape and silhouette of the pieces, you realize they are extremely versatile! I can’t wait to show you more ways to wear this jacket in the next few weeks!
J.Crew light blue blazer coat (also love this one and this one), Anna Sui Dress, Le Specs neo noir sunglasses, Sam Edelman boots (old).
