A few weeks ago Mr. R and went up to Napa for a last minute date without any plans. What we love about living so close to the wine country are these unplanned days, whether the weather is beautiful and we can just enjoy the scenery without worrying tom much about hopping around from tasting to tasting, dodging traffic and spending hours indoors, when you really just want to be outside.
We started our day at Farmstead, where we took these pictures. Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch is an adorable restaurant restaurant, cafe, shop and small growth farm that is well situated in downtown St. Helena, and a great stop for anyone visiting the Napa Valley. They have quite a large space, with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a separate outdoor cafe where you can stop for a coffee or bring your own food to picnic on their benches and chairs. The restaurant is on a small working farm, so most everything they serve on the restaurant is grown right outside. In fact, if you walk around the Farmstead grounds before you eat, you might already have a great idea of what is on the menu! We couldn’t decide between breakfast and lunch, so we ordered the caramel beignets to start with coffee, then enjoyed a few great big salads, and then finished off our meal with our remaining beignets for dessert. It was decadent, but nutritious, and the perfect start to our day.
