Mr. R and I met up with a bunch of friends in Chicago for a whirlwind weekend of eating, exploring and sight-seeing. I could not have done it without my new favorite pair of shoes, my Rothy’s! To say I saw the city is an understatement; I compared deep-dish pizzas, I danced in the street, I splashed in the fountains, I devoured a box of Stan’s doughnuts, I visited the Bean TWICE, and I walked a LOT.
I love these shoes because they are everything shoes should be, and then even better. Yes, they are comfortable, yes, they are cute (I love this red camo print and the toe shape is, well…. on point). But these shoes go beyond basic expectations because they are completely knit – like a sweater – which means no seams to rub on your heels or toes, no wastage from excess fabric or leather production, and they are made of 100% recycled water bottles.
Let’s take it a step further; because of the construction and material, they are completely breathable, which is perfect for sweaty feet post workouts and yoga, slightly stretchy for when your feet swell on airplanes, AND last but not least MACHINE WASHABLE. That’s right, splash around in the mud with your kids all you want and you can throw them in the machine to clean ’em up.
I wore my Rothy’s non-stop this weekend, as the crazy humid weather in Chicago and spontaneous downpours made almost every shoe I packed unwearable. Then they dried out and I slipped them on for my flight home. I don’t usually get so head over heels (hah) in love with a pair of shoes but because I travel so much I am constantly searching for a really versatile, comfortable pair. Needless to say, I will be buying another pair for my next New York and Japan trips!
