I was looking for a simple chic necklace to wear with an outfit that I’m posting tomorrow, and realized that I didn’t have anything that wasn’t covered in bright colors and baubles. I whipped up this easy DIY sequin ribbon choker as the perfect chic accessory for a simple t-shirt and jeans. It’s chic, but since it has a bit of sparkle it can be dressed up for evening as well. The best part is that if you don’t already have everything you need in your house to make this choker, it should cost you less than $10!
What you need:
1. 6″ of sequin trim
2. 1 yard of thin ribbon, any color
3. Wire cutters (unless your sequin trim is pre-cut)
4. Needle and thread
5. E600 or any other super strong glue
Step 1: Cut your sequin trim if it isn’t already cut to 6″
Step 2: Cut 2 pieces of ribbon to 18″ each
Step 3: Glue the ends of the ribbon to the ends of the sequin and overlap by at least 1/2″
Step 4: Using your needle and thread, tie a knot at the end of the thread, and feed the thread through the backside of one of the ribbons. Then sew loops over the connective metal in between the sequins to add extra support strength. 2 loops per section will be secure enough.
Step 5: Let dry and wear chicly!
