You know I have a bag of pom poms left over from my Pom Pom Shoe DIY, and I’ve been so inspired by all these deliciously decent ethnic inspired hats (see this one and this one), so I figured why not take one of my old hats and up-cycle it into something fun? This takes about 10 minutes and only requires things you probably have, so why not take something old and boring from your closet and make it into a head-turner? See what I did there?
What you need:
1. Old straw hat (I removed the old ribbon off of mine)
2. Any ribbon (mine came from my Net-a-Porter packages!)
3. Pompoms
4. Hot Glue
5. Scissors
Step 1: Measure the ribbon around the base of the hat and cut
Step 2: Hot glue the ribbon onto the base of the hat (avoiding the holes) and overlap the ends
Step 3: Pick your poms and lay out how you want it to look. Consider layering 3 big poms to create a focal point
Step 4: Hot glue your poms starting from the focal point
That’s it! How fun and simple is this DIY? I loved the black white and red color scheme- it’s super bright but classic and goes with a lot of summer things that I already own!
