Due Date: March 18, 2018
Baby’s Gender: a GIRL! Read all about how we did our gender reveal in this post!
Cravings/Aversions: Still no massive cravings, but like my un-pregnant self, I always want a lot of sweets. I try to eat my fair share of eggs and kale salad, but I really want Belgian waffles with strawberries and cookies. That said, my aversion to lemon water has start to dissipate! I had 2 lemon waters last week and found that I could stomach the taste, so maybe that one is back for good!
Size of Baby: About the size of a Zucchini, weighing in around 2.5 lbs and about 15″-16″ long!
Total Weight Gain: I’m up a full 20 pounds now… if not one or 2 more since I weighed myself a few days ago. I tried really hard to control my weight gain the first 2 trimesters, so now that I’m firmly in my third I’ve loosened up a bit and tried not to let the climbing scale bother me too much. For the record, I am not concerned about how much weight I am gaining, but what is causing the weight gain. If it’s that I’m just housing a plate of cookies, that is not exactly the type of weight gain I am looking for.
Exercise: The past few weeks have been really hard with the holidays, a cold and last minute travel, so unfortunately my work out regime has slowed down dramatically. Even when I feel terrible or am traveling I try to do 30 minute yoga sessions twice a week to keep me loose, and I think it’s really been the key to preventing most back pain and leg swelling issues. Since I can no longer fly the rest of this pregnancy, my goal is to get back in the swing of things and get 5 good workouts in a week. I know that sounds like a lot, but it does include my short yoga and barre sessions.
Favorite piece of clothing to wear right now: How about least favorite? I’ve really been avoiding all pants other than work out leggings, and for the most part I’ve been happy with that decision. I did buy one pair of cheap maternity jeans and hate them, so they are really my backups for when it’s cold and leggings are NOT an option. Since Rent the Runway launched maternity a few weeks ago I just rented my first pair of maternity jeans from them (J Brand!) and will be wearing them shortly on the blog, so I’ll let you know how that works out as a great alternative to buying an entirely new wardrobe each trimester!
Symptoms: Mostly still pain free except for sleeping (sleeping on your side is painful to your shoulders!) but I have noticed soreness and swelling in my ankles now. I don’t stand too much during the day so I can only imagine how bad it must be for people who work on their feet, but I find that rolling my ankles and massaging out the arches of my feet every night really help with this! I honestly don’t have too much else to complain about right now, as I know many women have it worse than me. If you are pregnant, my advice is to do as much basic yoga and stretching as you can throughout pregnancy to keep blood moving and muscles limber. Truthfully, I say this to non-pregnant people as well as I firmly believe that the most important thing you can do for your health is stretch, but throughout pregnancy I’ve really got on my soapbox about it!
Baby Movement: No slowdown on the movement from this little lady! Even the doctor was trying to get her heartbeat the other day and she could tell she was wiggling and flipping around in the 5 minutes it took to hear it. While there is no correlation to movement in utero to after they are born… if this little girl is anything like her daddy she won’t be able to sit still!
What I’m stressing about: Shoot, this is the same as in my 25 week bump date – the nursery! I CAN NOT make up my mind and have so many ideas about it… that I am just avoiding it completely. I also picked up a newborn magazine a few days ago at the doctors office and flipped through it to see about 1570789 things that apparently I need that I haven’t thought of. I immediately texted my friend who has 2 kids to get her opinion and she told me take a chill pill and that most of what’s in the magazine is nonsense. That said, I have polled my mom friends on what were their favorite, most -used items with a newborn to help with the baby registry, and I will be posting about that in a few weeks!
Again, let me know if you have any questions for me about my pregnancy, workout routine, registry, etc. and I will be sure to answer them in my next bump date at 35 weeks!
