You’ve seen my passion for glitz, glamour, color and travel- whether it’s through my outfits, my obsession with Mary McDonald, or how I redecorated my living room. Waylande Gregory encompasses all of those things in perfectly crafted, artisanal ceramic pieces. I discovered him at my new job – ok, so it’s not that new anymore- and find myself repeatedly touching the pieces and fantasizing about where I would put them in my own house. Waylande Gregory is considered one of the most influential ceramists of the 20th century, due both to the depictions on his pieces as well as the revolutionary glazing method that he used for the metallics on his designs. Although he passed away in the seventies, his art lives on by a studio that recreates his work from his original designs. The playful animals, smooth silhouettes and art deco style would be the perfect addition to my living room in the form of either a large bowl/art piece or a small tray for candies or keys. I am leaning toward a small collection of the mini animal trays shown below, but ideally I would have a large bowl and 2 lamps as well. What do you think?
