If you’re an American you celebrate Thanksgiving. If you love it so much, you might even find a little extra time in your schedule to repeat the overindulging one more time with your best friends, also known as ‘Friendsgiving’. Unlike Thanksgiving, ‘Friendsgiving’ has no rules; you don’t have to watch football, you don’t need to eat Turkey, you don’t need to say what you’re thankful for, you don’t really need to do anything but get together and enjoy a home-cooked meal, so what’s not to like? Friends giving is awesome!
For me, it is the perfect way to feast with my besties and show off my casual, but festive holiday attire. Whereas Thanksgiving is riddled by estranged family members and people I need to look reasonably safe for (in-laws, grandparents, your brothers who make fun of everything you wear….. oh, is that just me?), Friendsgiving is my chance to dress up but just hang out comfortably in my house- which is anyone’s dream but hardly a reality. So what would I wear?
1. A super stretchy bodysuit. It may seem counterintuitive when you over-eating, but there is no untucking or discomfort here, just stretchy #bliss and a lowcut neckline just to keep it interesting.
2. A mini skirt- I don’t actually recommend this as a realistic option but my husband likes me in mini skirts so I figured I would give him something to be thankful for. Boyfriend jeans would have been better but then I can’t be a complete slob can I?
3. A sherbet colored faux fur house coat. Because you really want to be wearing a snuggie and this is the chicest, next best thing.
4. Patchwork booties. Because they’re super cute. Then you can take them off at the front door so that everyone can gawk at them and then see where they should put their own shoes but you get to run around in socks, because duh, socks and a fur housecoat = hostess with the mostest.
