I am constantly working on my capsule ‘essential’ wardrobe list as many of you know I published here, and I think this outfit has 2 more items that I am considering adding to my list. If you follow me at all, you know I wear white sneakers all the time. Vans, Converse, Adidas; I love how a white sneaker simultaneously makes everything clean, crisp and casual at the same time. So it’s no surprise that I added this gold strap style to my collection. They’re slightly dressy and gangster and they make me feel like a rapper’s girlfriend. I have quite the imagination, no doubt.
The other piece is this denim jacket. As a rule, I generally hate ‘jean jackets’ – they seem so eighties prep and I can’t stand how Julia Gulia they make any outfit look. However, when I was in Singapore I spotted this cool asian wearing an oversize one, with battered up holes and distressing, and it completely changed my opinion of a denim jacket overnight. I found this one at Zara and snapped it up immediately, and ever since, I have been adorning it with flair (more on that later) and wearing it over everything from jeans to a dress. Although I will always continue to adapt and perfect my closet essentials, it’s interesting how seeing an old piece in a fresh light or shape can completely revolutionize how you think how building your wardrobe.
