Moving back to California has been quite the adjustment. The biggest adaptation for me always is my wardrobe (sad but true). I remember when I moved from San Francisco to New York four years ago I realized that I didn’t own any real ‘cold weather’ or ‘hot weather’ clothing, as the weather in northern California is a temperate year round 60-70 degrees. I went years without a decent cashmere and refused to buy snow boots, so all my good shoes were destroyed. After a clothing exorcism, I finally caved and this past winter bought several beautiful coats and turtlenecks, and this summer lace sundresses and gladiator sandals, convinced they would stand me the test of time.
However after being back in NorCal for a few weeks, I haven’t touched that closet of coats or that bin of summer dresses under my bed. Instead, leather jackets are on heavy rotation, making all of my mid0weight essentials simultaneously cool and chic, and somehow making my wardrobe feel new again. I first wore this jumpsuit back in the early NYC summer days, sleeveless and with an open toe, and this time it’s made nautical and fresh with a class striped turtleneck, leather jacket and beaded emoji pin -just for shits ;)
ASOS denim flare jumpsuit, Zara gold ankle boots, Uniqlo Heattech striped turtleneck– my fave!, Coach leather moto jacket, Nars lip pencil in Cruella
