Lately I’ve realized that if I don’t make it to the gym in the morning, there is almost no chance that I will have any energy left to go after a long day of work. But morning workouts are also tough because not only is it painful to get up before the sun and in most cases freezing weather, but even after you pat yourself on the back for going, you are still rushing to shower, eat, look presentable and still make it to work on time. I’ve been drinking this little breakfast smoothie for a while now, since it’s the perfect combo of an after-workout boost, morning pick me up and breakfast treat that I need to replenish on the run. It may not look super pretty, but it’s easy to make, tasty and filling- and has everything I need to get up and GO.
#MotivationMonday: Protein Kick-Start Smoothie
Protein Kick-Start Smoothie:
1 cup chilled coffee (use whatever is your favorite; I live above Dunkin Donuts and am not above admitting that I grab that after a workout to use for this smoothie)
1 cup unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
1 packet Vanilla PerfectFit Protein (my fave!)
1 Banana
4 Cubes Ice
Nutrition Facts:
Calories 215
Protein 7g
Fiber 6g
Fat 1g
Carbs 33g
Calcium 23% of DV
That’s it! It’s so simple and good I swear I’m going to bottle it.
What are your favorite post-workout snacks or smoothies? What do you use as motivation for early morning workouts?
