Due Date: June 10, 2022
Baby’s Gender: Still a boy ;)
Cravings/Aversions: Pretty much the same as my last update- I am only hungry in the morning, eating 2 breakfasts, then usually a pretty healthy lunch and by dinnertime I’m not that hungry.
Size of Baby: The app says 6 lbs, 18-19 inches and as big as a bunch of Kale, which doesn’t actually sound very big?
Total Weight Gain: I am up 23 lbs and gained 4 lbs within the last week, so finally catching up. However, I was sick with Covid 3 weeks ago and the lasting effect of a bad cough and not having childcare meant I didn’t work out or even go on a walk for a week, so it made sense to be up a few pounds. However, I did have an extra ultrasound a few weeks ago and the baby is overall measuring in the 23rd percentile, 44th for his abdomen (!) so clearly he is getting the food he needs, and just taking everything from me.
Exercise: Well, considering I’ve been sick my workout routine has completely fallen off a cliff. I haven’t even really done any stretching or yoga, which I swear by in my third trimester, but the past 6 weeks have pretty much been a sickness, childcare, work, scheduling disaster and I haven’t been able to put myself first for a long time. Hopefully these last few weeks I can get it together.
Favorite piece of clothing to wear right now: I have been wearing lots of ‘short’ silhouettes which show off my legs and make me look less pregnant than I am. It’s funny, my style for each pregnancy has been different, and I did want to document that. For the first, I was much more experimental, wearing a lot of Rent the Runway and just trying to maintain this idea of being ‘fashion forward’ throughout the whole pregnancy. Some looks landed, some did not, but I was definitely rocking a lot more adventurous styles. For my second pregnancy I was MUCH more bohemian. Looser fit styles, bright colors, embroidery details and a more heirloom feel characterized my second pregnancy, and in general, comfort was key. This pregnancy I haven’t been blogging so I haven’t tried as many looks as I did for the first two, but instead bought really versatile, chic separates and A-line short non-maternity dresses that I can style post-pregnancy. I would say that when I actually put on a look, this is my best looking pregnancy (overall, maybe not the last few weeks), but the outfits have been few and far between given the life stage that I am in.
What I’m stressing about: Oy, at 30 weeks I wrote ‘not a lot’. But MAN, what 6 weeks will do to you. Right now, I am stressing about everything. I just realized I have no bassinet to sleep in and no bassinet attachment to go with a stroller. I just remembered that I made a blanket for the first two kids and now I HAVE to make a baby blanket for #3, which means deciding on a name, designing the print and making the blanket. I want maternity pictures and newborn photos but have no idea what I will wear, what the baby will wear, and when to schedule these things. My childcare has been erratic, my workload is whelming (for the limited childcare) and Marina and Liam have been acting absolutely horrible since they are so out of routine. Lastly, did I mention this baby is DUE on Liam’s second birthday? And here I am, less than 4 weeks out, stressing about what I’m going to do for his birthday. I put Marina’s birthday together in 2 weeks this year, so I know I can do it… but holy hell what a month I’m going to have. Followed by 3 more months of no sleep and emotional stress. It’s nuts, I feel more like a basket case for this 3rd pregnancy than I did for the first 2, maybe because I know how hard it’s going to get, or maybe because this is my last pregnancy/birth and I have certain expectations that I didn’t have for the first 2.
