Wow. I can’t believe this is my 4th and final quarterly post for this year! Giving myself quarterly goals has been an amazing way to track my progress, but man it feels like just yesterday I sat down and wrote the first one! Time is passing so quickly, and I can’t believe the next one I write will be for 2019.
As always, let’s first check in with my Q3 goals…
Explore New Business Opportunities
I spent a bit of time this quarter working on my business plan, but we have decided to punt it to 2019. Due to the holiday season and my busy interior design schedule right now (see below) I don’t have much time to build a new business, but we are determined to work on it more in the coming year. Hopefully I will have something to share with you next year!
Build my Interior Design Portfolio (and renovating my Master Bathroom)
Well, it’s a fail on the Master Bath renovation due to the fact that the contractor estimate came in 3x over budget. We are still working to get it done… but the search is on for another contractor. Regarding my design portfolio, I have a ton of clients right now, and am finishing up a few that should be photographed soon, so hopefully I will have those images and stories soon to share with you all!
Motherhood and Travel
Nailed this one. Marina has now been to every time zone in the US and has many more trips planned over the next 6 months, so I am feeling more confident traveling with her every day. I wrote this post a few weeks ago about traveling with a baby, and now I feel like I’ve got it down! …Until she starts walking ;)
2018 Outlook: Q4
Focus on sewing: learn new techniques and share my process
I know that what sets me apart is my ability to sew and design clothing and prints. I have vowed to continue to build my own skill set so that I can truly call myself an ‘expert’ and share more of my process though my blog and instagram stories. I used to think that people who didn’t sew wouldn’t be interested in watching me create, but I’ve learned that people really love to watch the process! So I have a lot of new designs that I want to make for fall and I’m hoping to share everything from the initial sketch to the final product!
Re-institute Date Nights and Date Mornings
I had to give myself one easy one, and this is it. Mr. R and I seriously need to focus on our date nights and date mornings, to break the monotony of having a baby. We love what Marina brings to our life, but it can often feel like you are just killing time from nap time to nap time to bed time, instead of really enjoying our moments together. Now that we are more comfortable leaving her with a babysitter, we need to focus back on each other.
Make New Holiday Traditions
I can’t even really think about Holiday yet, but I know it will sneak up on me before I’m ready. We are going to have a really weird holiday this year, so I would like to create 1 or 2 new traditions that will stand the test of time, regardless of where or if we actually celebrate Christmas this year. I’m hoping one can be a family event and one can be with friends, so my wheels are turning on what they could be!
