12 Places to Eat in London for all price points

London is an amazing city, and since I have spent quite a bit of time there over the past few years, I thought it was high (tea) time to compile a list of my favorite places to eat in London. From coffee shops to afternoon tea to fancy dinner locales, my list has you covered. Many of these places I have eaten at more than once, because the food, ambiance and price point were perfect for what I needed both as a tourist and a local. Many of the places are located in central London, but some have numerous locations for you to visit throughout Shoreditch, Chelsea, Soho and the Kings Cross area.

I don’t have pictures of every single place, and some pictures are not blogger perfect (sometimes it’s actually dinner and eating comes before blogging) but trust me you will not be disappointed! If you have any questions at all about where to go or what to order at each place, please don’t hesitate to shoot me a message. Cafes / Coffee Shops / Baked Goods

Harrods

It might be touristy, but it’s touristy for a darn good reason. The display of baked goods and chocolates in this store is beyond comparison, so I strongly recommended stopping on the ground floor for a sweet energy boost before hitting up the remaining shopping floors. We tried a speculoos and caramel cronut, which was even better than it sounds!

Yumcha

This was the spot for my daily matcha fix, as there was a location right in my school lobby. However, there are a few locations scattered around the city. While of course I enjoyed their matcha lattes and delicious matcha cakes, they have numerous other tea options as well as espresso drinks. The decor is also very insta-worthy, with old world tea tins and a shabby chic flair.

Honey & Co

This turkish bake shop is a must for those staying in Fitzrovia. The shop is a stone’s throw from the Warren Street tube stop, and serves the most delicious in-house baked goods, granola, salads and turkish coffee. They also serve lunch and have an array of authentic turkish spreads on hand, that are beautifully packaged to take home as gifts or enjoy on your stay. My pistachio and blood orange muffin was original and out of this world scrumptious.

TAP Coffee

TAP Coffee is a local London mini chain, which is a great way to try something new, but feel like a local. They have a rustic, artisanal feel, but serve delicious pastries, coffee and matcha all in a quick service model that makes choosing this over say…. Starbucks, a no brainer.

Lunch/ Dinner

Dishoom

So nice, I went there twice. Dishoom is a London staple, as there also are several locations throughout the city, each with a slightly different menu and character. I was blown away by the fresh and lively flavors and colors of the food and interior design, and felt it was the perfect place for lunch or dinner. Although there are a ton of Indian restaurants in London, this is definitely one not to miss!

Yauatcha

Who doesn’t love Dim Sum? Yauatcha is a Dim Sum dream, drenched in cool blue tones and a sleek modern interior. The dim sum menu is extensive, but they also offer traditional Chinese rice and noodle dishes and soups to appease a wider array of palates. While this place is chic enough for a night out or business meetings, it was also shockingly well priced. And since I love it so much, I also hit it their newly opened location in Waikiki’s International Marketplace this past week!

Bubbledogs

Is there anything better than champagne and gourmet hotdogs? No, really. This Fitzrovia hotspot is a must for a casual night out with friends and the food will even more fun than the company. We loved ordering off of the lengthy champagne menu, and devoured our ‘Fourth of July’ and ‘BLT’ hot dogs… a definite must while in London!

Bao

There are 2 locations of this tiny bao shop, one of which I visited in London’s Soho neighborhood. The menu features a handful of delicious and inventive takes on tradtional bao buns and easy sides perfect for sharing. They also have a creative drink menu featuring non-alcoholic options with creative tea and coffee mixtures. Our favorite was a chilled mix of ginger tea and mandarin orange, topped with cardamom- it was both refreshing and tarte, a fun pairing with a pork bao!

Ottolenghi

By now you have heard of Yotam Ottolenghi and his many beautiful cookbooks; Ottolenghi, Jerusalem, Plenty, and Plenty More. If you are near one of his few cafes in London, you can get a chance to see where it all started. These small lunch spots are a haven of heaping help yourself salads, vegetarian dishes, beautifully cooked meat and baked goods. They offer all the convenience of a Whole Foods salad bar with the authenticity and feel of a local cafe. The food is as delicious as it is beautiful, and I strongly recommend multiple trips here for breakfast and lunch!

Berner’s Tavern

This hotspot inside the Edition Hotel is a sight to be seen, whether eating there or not.  I went there when it first opened 3 years ago, and we visited again a few months ago and it was still packed to the brim with locals and luxury travelers alike. The main dining room is a grand hall filled with portraits and the most incredibly detailed ceiling you have ever seen, and the food ain’t too shabby either. We enjoyed a burger and fries, a few creative cocktails and dessert, all of which were delicious and presented beautifully.

Afternoon Tea

Sketch

This is on every bloggers list for the scenery alone. The all pink signature ‘sketch’ room is delightful on the eyes, and the bathroom of egg-like toilet pods is the world’s more awkward picture hotspot. Sketch could have been easily dismissed as an ambiance attraction alone, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the afternoon tea service. Although we were treated to a few extra perks for Mother’s Day (champagne and caviar service) the tower of sandwiches, tea cakes and treats and the scone and clotted cream service would have been more than enough. Not only is the tea and sandwich offering extensive, you are more than welcome to additional of any item they present to you, assuring that you will get a ton of fantastic instagram fodder AND eat your money’s worth!

Sanderson Hotel

For another fun afternoon tea service, don’t miss the Alice in Wonderland themed tea at the Sanderson Hotel. Just walking through this hotel is a feast for the eyes, as the Phillipe Starck decorated lobby and bar will definitely make you think you fell though the looking glass. They definitely know how to incorporate whimsy into afternoon tea, from the tiny ‘drink this’ amouse bouche to the shaped tea cakes and cookies. My advice here is to dress the part of Alice, put on your fascinator and indulge, because when else are you going to have tea with the Queen of Hearts?
