Here we go again! Baby #3 is on it’s way and we are zipping through this pregnancy. I almost didn’t write any bumpdates for this pregnancy but I find myself going back and looking at them every once in a while, so I figured it’s best to ‘keep things equal’ for this baby and write them while I can. Let’s go!
Due Date: June 10, 2022 (literally, on Liam’s 2nd birthday. I’m sure I will be late as I always am, but these bdays will be close!)
Baby’s Gender: Boy! I accidentally found out earlier this time, but honestly, I could feel it from the beginning. My skin and weight gain were very similar to Liam’s pregnancy, and nothing like with Marina, so I just knew. Takes more than gender to surprise a 3rd time pregnant woman!
Cravings/Aversions: “I don’t have any obvious aversions or cravings yet, but I’m definitely struggling a bit to eat toward the end of the day. Although the nausea has subsided, my body seems to be building up gas after every meal and by the end of the day I am full of gas and the gas pains make it hard to eat. I continue to eat dinner anyway, but I definitely don’t have the appetite you would think I would have. I hope this subsides because as you will see below, I am not sure I’m gaining enough weight because of it.” – literally copied exactly from my 20 week bumpdate with Liam. Reading it back now actually makes me feel SO much better because Mr. R is always confused as to why I don’t want dinner, and this helps to remind us we’ve been here before!
Size of Baby: The baby measured to roughly 12 ounces in my 20 week ultrasound, which is a little less than what Liam weighted at 14 oz, but it’s still pretty hard for them to know when they’re so small.
Total Weight Gain: I’m up about 8 lbs which compares to what I wrote last time at 7 lbs. So… pretty close? I’m not concerned, as I’ve said, we’ve been down this path before. And now knowing I gained a total of 28 lbs last time and Liam was 7.5 of them, it doesn’t seem like the baby growth suffered at all.
Exercise: My workout routine is different again because of the hangover effects of working out at home with the pandemic. Instead of going to any classes, I do all my cardio and strength through online classes with DanceBody at home. I love it, and know that it kept me super fit throughout the past 2 years and beginning of pregnancy, so I’m sticking with it! I currently do 2 30-40 minute cardio dance workouts a week, 1-2 45 minute walks, and 1-2 30 minute strength training sessions a week. It’s more than I did with previous pregnancies, but I feel pretty gross if I don’t move so I am trying to stay with it.
Favorite piece of clothing to wear right now: Overall, I’ve had a blast dressing this bump so far and feel like I’ve finally hit my stride with pregnancy style. I don’t feel like I am trying too hard, but know what to look for when shopping and really have taken care to wear things that are more timeless and flattering. I don’t really own or wear anything maternity, so I’ve just been choosing low rise pants and stretchy skirts/dresses to fit over the bump. Every pregnancy for me has been different: with Marina I rented so much clothing from Rent the Runway in order to accommodate the bump, and with Liam I had made so many versatile pieces I was wearing a lot of those. So far I’ve been wearing pants a bit more than dresses like I did with prior pregnancies but I imagine that will change as I grow.
Symptoms: Looking back at my prior pregnancy bumpdates, it actually seems like this one has been the easiest! Other than the gas and digestive issues, I haven’t had many headaches which plagued me previously. I’m later later on sleep will be an issue as well, but so far I’m so exhausted from work and taking care of 2 kids that I haven’t needed to take anything for sleep regularly.
Baby Movement: I started feeling kicks recently, although not many. I’m sure they will pick up but I wonder if this kid will be a little more mellow than the previous two, which never stopped moving in or out of utero (fingers crossed).
What I’m stressing about: My current project is our playroom, as I think nesting has set in earlier this time around. We have been in our new home just over a year and I wanted to tackle some built-ins for the playroom, but after pricing out options and seeing the ridiculously long lead times, last week I made a rushed decision to just buy some ikea cabinets. Honestly, they work perfectly. They give a faux built-in effect and hide ALL the toys and clutter, and generally just make my mood better as I used to have to walk by the playroom mess 100x a day to go to my office. I’ve never been so happy to clean up my sight line! Next up in that room will be a new rug and maybe some art to make it look more cohesive, or maybe nothing to maintain that ’empty’ look for awhile ;)
Thanks for reading along! Check back in a few weeks for the 25 bumpdate!
