This past Saturday in San Francisco was everything one can hope for. The sun was shining, it was a beautiful 68 degrees, and it was a gorgeous day to be outside and explore the city. Since we live just north of the city, it’s a nice quick drive for us to pop in for a few hours, see what’s new and enjoy a few of our favorite spots.
For this trip we tried out a ‘new to us’ restaurant in the Marina, Flores SF. It’s a modern mexican restaurant with bold graphic decor and fresh and colorful food. I had an orange and Mezcal margarita, and we shared a bright avocado salad, the carnitas huarache with 2 sunny side up eggs, and a Pozole verde soup. Everything was delicious, and surprisingly affordable for city food- we were extremely pleased with the restaurant and the food, and already know it will be a favorite spot of ours to take visitors to the city.
As you all know by now I LOVE matcha, mostly coming from a tea obsession that started 6 years ago when luxury tea was one of the categories I bought for a department store here in San Francisco. Seeing that I like to know what is new and interesting in the non-coffee drink category, we popped over to AQ- As Quoted- to try their turmeric latte. Although the drink was a latte in all appearances, it’s not a caffeinated drink, so I’m not sure it achieved what I wanted it to. Basically it’s a latte made with turmeric powder, which increases digestion and acts as an anti-inflammatory. I actually loved the turmeric taste and would get one again…. but not over my preferred matcha!
The next stop was Bloomingdales to see the new Mon Purse gallery, and pick up my new custom red clutch! If you haven’t heard of Mon Purse, remember you heard it here first when it blows up. It is a relatively new brand from Australia, built on the idea of complete customization of your own purse, clutch, handbag, or travel accessory. You can check out their website online where you will see all the options to customize your bag, from color to leather texture to lining, hardware and even monogramming. It’s quite genius, and I can’t wait to share with you guys the green (of course) bag that I custom created! In the meantime, I visited their Bloomingdales location to pick up this red clutch, and they had an artist there on site to customize and paint my bag. She’s only there for a few more days and then goes to the NYC Bloomingdales so get in ASAP if you can! I found this pictures of a tiger online and had her paint it and it came out AMAZING if I say so myself! Even if the painter isn’t there you have to check out the gallery in the SF or NYC location and you can buy one of the bags they have on site or customize your creation with the help of the team there. You have to try it- it’s so fun!
To finish up our quick Saturday in San Francisco, we checked out a few stores in the Marina and took some photos in Pacific Heights. You really can’t beat the amazing view of the city these rolling hills have, and to get such a clear day is rare, so we had to whip out the camera to remember it!
If you’re wondering what to wear for a saturday in San Francisco it’s quite easy- layers and comfort are key! I chose to wear my new 3 – lock veja sneakers for easy walking, and layered a lightweight olive green jacket over a tank top in case it got warm enough for a tan.
