After 9 long months of wearing stretchy knit midi dresses, loose tops and maternity jeans, my postpartum fashion goals are to get back into something with a waist. It may be a hot minute before I fit into the majority of my closet, but that doesn’t mean that it’s too early to start faking it!
These photos were taken 10 days postpartum, and trust me, there is still a gut (uterus?) hiding underneath all that fabric. I’m still wearing a stretch waist skirt, but instead of my fitted knit pencil styles, this one has a more flattering A-line silhouette and lengthening stripes to take the focus off of my waist.
I’m also wearing a peplum top with a stretchy elastic waistband, which a belt worn a bit high on my waist. The balance of the peplum and the billowing sleeves makes my waist look smaller than it is, which I’ll take right about now! It’s not the most nursing friendly top… but I’m still trying to figure out my nursing style. I’m not about to purchase 10 button down blouses, so we will circle back on that issue once I’ve figured it out!
While I miss my bump, I am thrilled to get back into the game of wearing regular clothing and exploring the challenges of postpartum fashion. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite items with a defined waist… that most likely I will not be fitting into any time soon. But a girl has to have goals right?
