Summertime in LIC

A New York newbie, I haven’t explored much beyond the Manhattan boundaries of the East and Hudson rivers, but a good friend recently dragged me out to Long Island City for dinner. I loved walking along the river front, taking in views of the Manhattan skyline, and exploring the new New York frontier, where hopefully I’ll be spending more time in the future!

Jacket: Madewell (on sale!). Shirt: JoeFresh. Dress worn as skirt: H&M. Shoes: Gap. Sunnies: Karen Walker. Necklace: Homemade.

Thanks to Kristin for taking the pics!

Baby One More Time

Preppy separates balanced with a hint of midriff? Sounds like a recipe for a great outfit or a Britney Spears video. I chose the former.

Silk and Linen

There’s so much to say about this outfit. I love the colors and the bold colorblocked stripe of the top, and even more so I love that both the top and pants were on major sale at J.Crew. The only thing I am not completely in love with are the fabrics for both. Although you can wash both this type of silk blend and linen in your home washing machine, ironing is crucial. I suggest buying some spray starch to make your life easier!

Top: J.Crew (on sale for $35 with the current 30% off sale!). Pants: J.Crew (on sale for $56). Necklace: Bauble Bar. Sunnies: Karen Walker. Jewelry: Souvenir from India and Forever21. Shoes: Chinese Laundry

Just Peachy

These pants are both vintage and modern. The high waist and pleating reminds me of decades past, but the ankle zips and soft peachy tone are very of-the-moment. I’ve worn them before here, but they look much more casual paired with a simple striped tee and pendant necklace.

Pants: H&M (similar here and denim option here). Tee: Joe Fresh (new, $10!). Heels: Dolce Vita. Necklace: Stefanie Marie (just added to my Etsy shop!). Bracelet: Forever21

Weekend Prep

I’m loving bright tailored separates right now as a summery way to look professional. And man, I love those sunglasses so much, even though they give me a unibrow.

Blazer: H&M (also seen here), similar here here and here. Green Short: H&M (similar here). Shirt: Banana Republic. Shoes: Zara (old). Sunglasses, Bag and Belt: H&M. Necklace: Souvenir from a cross-country drive through Wall Drug in South Dakota.

Now that you’re here, why don’t you check out the new Style Safari Manifesto? Would love to hear your comments/opinions!
