The best part of this photo journal is the colorful photos so I will get right to it! To summarize this trip, I would use the following words:

As you know by now, my mother and I went to San Miguel de Allende for a quick 4 day shopping excursion. San Miguel (SMdA for now) is about 3 hours outside of Mexico City by bus, which was shockingly easy and affordable. SMdA is situated at high altitude, but the temperate weather is enjoyable all year long. Cold at night and warm during the day, it’s almost like a perfect Fall day every day.
My mom and I explored the city by going on a hunt for colorful and beautiful doors to photograph, some of those pictured here. What we found along the way were artisanal handicrafts (I brought SO MANY home), Spanish Colonial churches and architecture, and the cutest cafes with a mix of cheese enchiladas and green juice (is there a better combination?)
We stumbled upon this insanely gorgeous hotel (not ours) which had accents of red; and mixed traditional textiles such as the Otomi embroidery on the back on the chair, with luxe leather seating and gothic chandeliers.
Where did I spend the majority of my time? At this stall in the local artisan market. I must have been there for cumulative 3 hours identifying plates and bowls that I wanted to take home… and not to brag, but I brought home 6 PLATTERS and I spent $43. Point for me!
Where to stay, where to stay? There is only one major hotel in SMdA, the Rosewood. While it is a stunningly beautiful hotel, my mom and I prefer to stay in some of the smaller hotels with interior courtyards and personalized service. Although ours was at the top of the hill and I don’t recommend climbing up a huge hill with 6 platters every time you go out, it was truly a beautiful spot.
One of the most delicious meals I have ever had was at La Parada, a modern Peruvian restaurant. The ingredients were extremely fresh, the flavors were bright and crisp, and my mom and I were blown away by the delicious quinoa lettuce wraps, mango pisco sour, and corn and broccoli guacamole. We ate even more but we ate it so fast I forgot to snap a photo!
On our first day we went to Juan’s cafe- a place where they serve authentic chilaquiles and enchiladas, custom juice blends, and bootleg DVD’s. Who needs netflix?
One of the last meals we had was at El Pegaso, right off of el Jardin. My mom and I ordered tortilla soup as a starter, and it as well as all of the toppings did not disappoint. I’m racking by brain for the name of the mini tacos that are shown below, but they were an appetizer and were DELICIOUS. We also loved our dinner at El Correo across the street, which had a fantastic view of all of the wedding parades on a Friday night!
