I have had this blog for a few years and have always shied away from doing sponsored posts since I typically find it hard to write about something I am not passionate about. However, when SheSpeaks contacted me about writing about how I’ll be wearing cotton this summer, I knew immediately that this was a cause I could get behind.
As you all know, my mom and I have been on numerous trips around the world. From Morocco to India, Mexico to Dubai, my mom and I have been in markets and souks in warm climates on almost every continent. We have scoured for amazing local artist’s products and stuffed our suitcases with them, bringing home to share with our family and friends. And what do these items have in common? They are almost always cotton. We have beautiful embroidered tunics that we have bought in Oman and Marrakesh. I have heavy batik dyed table runners from Bali, and woven and embroidered cotton dresses and napkins from San Miguel de Allende. There is a reason all of these countries use cotton: it is perfect natural, comfortable and breathable fabric for humid summer days, and even better for steamy summer nights.
This outfit is the perfect summer combination to wear for a warm summer night. I actually wore it to a gathering with friends this past weekend, and received so many compliments on my top. It’s flattering, sophisticated, provides coverage, and BREATHES. Why? Because it’s cotton! Summer dressing doesn’t always have to be frilly dresses and lightweight tees. With cotton products you can look put together for a night out and still be comfortable and a bit sexy. Just check out the slit in my pants!
Love it? Good me too. Get the look:
Storets Top, Uluwatu Lace pants (from Bali!), Zara heels (similar), LilyandLaura bracelets, choker made by me!
