Playing with Proportions

I have to admit that I have had this sheer, pleated hi-low top for almost a year and I never wore it. Although it has a ton of interest, it somehow never worked with the skinny jean outfits I planned. Finally it felt right with a simple miniskirt- the voluminous silhouette pairs back well to a little skin!

Skirt: Zara, old. Top: H&M, clearly old. Shoes: H&M ($35!). Bag: J.Crew (other colors here). Jewelry: Soho street vendor, H&M, Stefanie Marie Designs

Baby One More Time

Preppy separates balanced with a hint of midriff? Sounds like a recipe for a great outfit or a Britney Spears video. I chose the former.

Jacket: H&M (seen here). Pants: J.Crew Sale (seen here). Shoes: H&M (seen here). Crop Top: American Apparel (can’t get enough of it! – seen here). (Yep, lots of remixing new and old this week!) Jewelry: Souvenirs from India, H&M, Forever21

Silk and Linen

There’s so much to say about this outfit. I love the colors and the bold colorblocked stripe of the top, and even more so I love that both the top and pants were on major sale at J.Crew. The only thing I am not completely in love with are the fabrics for both. Although you can wash both this type of silk blend and linen in your home washing machine, ironing is crucial. I suggest buying some spray starch to make your life easier!

Top: J.Crew (on sale for $35 with the current 30% off sale!). Pants: J.Crew (on sale for $56). Necklace: Bauble Bar. Sunnies: Karen Walker. Jewelry: Souvenir from India and Forever21. Shoes: Chinese Laundry

Head to Toe Polka

Full-body polka dots definitely seem like a risk, but think of the romper as your no-flash version of a summer dress! And lately I’ve been pairing this neon belt with every outfit; I think it’s a nice way to accept the neon trend without blasting it from the rooftops.

Jacket: Zara (old). Romper: Forever21 ($25- Can’t find online, check your local store!). Belt: Gap (similar here). Heels: Old Navy. Sunnies: Karen Walker. Bag: Souvenir from London. Bracelets: Forever21 and the chain strap from a clutch.

Flower Block

Color blocking and bright florals are my summer outfit recipe for beating this heat while still looking chic. I love how pairing bright colors like hot pink with solid black and white really makes the colors pop!

Skirt: Zara (also seen here). Shirt: DIY (see the steps here). Shoes: ASOS (seen here). Earrings: Stefanie Marie Designs. Studded Bag: Forever21 ($32!)

Checked Out

Spruce up your wardrobe with some fun (and maybe a little funky) shorts. These are so lightweight, and the fun check pattern pairs well with both a a crisp, tailored blouse and a loose white tee. And I’m officially declaring these heels the STEAL OF THE SEASON since for $35 you can not only wear neon- the trend of the season, but you can also easily stop traffic and hail a cab in the dead of night with them.

Heels: H&M (recent!!) Shorts: ASOS $34. Blouse: Banana Republic. Belt: Gap (similar here). Bracelets: Forever21 and Stefanie Marie (Etsy shop now open!). Sunnies: Paul Smith.
