Playing with Proportions

I have to admit that I have had this sheer, pleated hi-low top for almost a year and I never wore it. Although it has a ton of interest, it somehow never worked with the skinny jean outfits I planned. Finally it felt right with a simple miniskirt- the voluminous silhouette pairs back well to a little skin!

Skirt: Zara, old. Top: H&M, clearly old. Shoes: H&M ($35!). Bag: J.Crew (other colors here). Jewelry: Soho street vendor, H&M, Stefanie Marie Designs

Flower Block

Color blocking and bright florals are my summer outfit recipe for beating this heat while still looking chic. I love how pairing bright colors like hot pink with solid black and white really makes the colors pop!

Graffiti

One way to conquer this season’s floral printed pants look is with a structured silhouette on top. I love this vest for its versatility and length that transcends seasons. I would love to hear your opinions about the earrings- I just made them this weekend and have been wearing them non- stop!

Pants: Topshop (jacket here). Vest: Urban Outfitters (old). Tank: Old Navy. Shoes: Zara (old). Sunnies: Forever21. Earrings: NEW! Homemade by Stefanie Marie. Jewelry: H&M, souvenir from India, C.Wonder, Soho street vendor

Discovery

Don’t you just love when you discover new uses for old pieces? I was given this black cashmere dress as a gift from my internship at Bill Blass 6 years ago (under Prabal Gurung, no less!) and let it collect dust in the back of my closet. When I was 20, the last thing I wanted was a midi length loose dress with a high neckline. But oh, how wrong I was. I’ve recently realized how chic a midi length black dress can be with my hair pulled up and dazzling earrings, and today, how versatile it is with chunky boots and a bold plaid.

Yes, Yes, I am glad I am going through my closet and finding new things- but thank GOODNESS january is almost over because I am itchin’ for some new pieces!

Dress: Bill Blass. Shoes: Deena & Ozzy. Shirt and Coat: Old Navy. Socks: Gap. Bag: Badgley Mischka. Aviators: Sunnies. Bangles: H&M and Soho street vendor.

Long/Short

The allure of this dress is the fine line it walks between sexy and bag-lady. From the back it’s shapelessness is mysterious, but then the assymetrical hem and sheer yoke on top give the audience a little sneak peak. I wore it to a rehearsal dinner in Ft. Lauderdale this past weekend, and paired with calfskin dalmation heels, it was the perfect pre-new years eve choice.

Dress, Jacket and Heels: Zara. Purse: Badgley Mischka. Necklace: Banana Republic. Rings: H&M, Banana Republic

Black/Grey

Headed to my girlfriends’ annual Holiday Party tonight, but decided to take a less ‘glitzy’ approach to dressing for it this year. Picked my colorblock black and grey dress with chain details and a silver bag to make it more festive. Happy Holidays!

Dress: my own design. Tights: H&M. Shoes: Unknown. Bracelet: Banana Republic. Recycled Gum Wrapper Bag: the Ecoist.
