Thurs-DIY: Metal & Rhinestone Statement Bib Necklace

{Clockwise: Vince Camuto, Oscar de la Renta, Pamela Love, Oscar de la Renta, Aurelie Biderman}

This week we are making a mixed metal statement necklace that is inspired by the awesome gilded bib necklaces above. A bold necklace is exactly what I need to jazz up a white tee shirt and jorts this summer, so why not make my own unique piece? I chose to use copper, gold and silver and bronze gems because I think mixed metals will really make this necklace versatile. Although it looks like you need a ton of supplies, I use these items all the time, so I strongly suggest investing in what you will need!

Supplies:

1. Glue Gun and glue

2. Extra paper

3. Assorted rhinestones (great resource here)

4. Thin chain (its easier if it has bigger loops to pry open)

5. Jump rings

6. Clasp (got mine here)

7. Sheet of craft metal, no thicker than .2mm (mine is from Blick, but not online)

8. Heavy duty scissors

9. Needlenose pliers (to open and close jump rings)

10. Wire cutters (optional, if you bought a thick chain)

11. pencil

12. Dart Awl (not pictured, but useful for pressing holes in metal)

Here we go!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial- let me know if you try it!
