The Easter/Passover Conundrum

Both Easter and Passover are coming up this weekend, but this will be the first year in a while I will yearn to celebrate both. I grew up celebrating Easter, with my mother hiding eggs around the house for my brothers and I to find (the one with the $20 bill in it was gold!), but since graduating college, I have also been celebrating Passover with my boyfriend and friends. Passover has grown to be my third favorite holiday of the year now (after Halloween and Christmas of course!) and it is just as big of a deal to me to do it right as other holidays are.

This year I will be celebrating Passover at my boyfriend’s parent’s house, and will have an Easter brunch that following Sunday, so while I will be trying to remain kosher for the whole week, there might be a few Easter treats that throw me off course. Below are some of my favorite Passover and Easter treats and decorations (kosher or not!) that I hope to enjoy this year.

{the dream table for Passover}

{with this modern Jonathan Adler Seder plate}

{complete with some DIY’d gilded stemware. I mean, you do have to drink 4 glasses, right?}

{First course, Matzoh ball soup with potato noodles}

{you can’t have Passover without brisket and root veggies}

{but maybe we mash the root veggies this time? Delish}

{try rocky road matzoh for dessert}

{and enjoy chocolate caramel matzoh all week long}

{since Easter is more about brunch, how about these scalloped sweet potato cakes to serve with your ham?}

{followed by a necessity; some pastel dyed  deviled eggs}

{Or better yet, this adorable chick version}

{with endless trays of tea sandwiches}

{with mini key lime tarts for dessert}

{followed by tiny macaroon nests! bonus: the coconut in these makes them work for Passover too!}

I hope you all enjoy and happy, family and loved one filled weekend for either Passover or Easter. And please tell me, what are your favorite Passover or Easter foods and traditions?
