Trend Alert: Black Turtlenecks

Yesterday I attended the Milly Fall 2012 Show where my good friend Monica is an Associate Designer. Maybe it was our years of living together in the frozen tundra of Ithaca, NY, but we are clearly on the same fashion wavelength.  While I thoroughly enjoyed the upbeat, colorful show, what stood out to me from the get-go was the use of thin black turtlenecks as a base under EVERY OUTFIT. No joke, guys. I know you all think I’m crazy because I keep black turtlenecks with me like they are a blankie, but now I feel completely validated. Therefore, today I am going to take you on a turtleneck fashion tutorial through the bright colors of Milly Fall 2012, and my street style shots.

And lastly, of course, what do you think I was wearing to the show??

Here we go:

{Worn under a structured white jacket or blazer}

{A base for structured black layers}

{A slimming addition to a colorblock pencil skirt}

{To add modesty to a spaghetti strap or strapless outfit}

{Under a cropped boxed jacket}

Now that you can sleep easy knowing that that black turtleneck is NOT just a thing of the 80s or in my closet, I can show you some of my other favorite looks from this ladylike, bright, and totally wearable collection.

{Are sweater vests coming back? Hell yes if they look this good!}

{Love the Heliotrope color pops on the collar and cuffs}

{The right diagonal stripe slim fit top to balance the volume on bottom}

{Ah- this clover! My favorite!}

{I never knew Chartreuse could be so chic}

{Love how the modern color updates a vintagey-lace dress}

Look out white turtlenecks- I’mma get you for Spring!
