DIY: Chain Friendship Bracelet

This friendship bracelet trend is getting out of hand. Don’t get me wrong, I love them- but I can’t believe how bracelets that I used to make in the 8th grade are now back in style. And not only are they coming back- but they are back in full force- adorned with charms, studs, rhinestones and leather! I visited my students this weekend and coincidentally some of them made me some awesome friendship bracelets, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to compliment them with my own DIY bling version. Inspired by the pictures above, I put together an easy tutorial to make your own. You need:

1. 6-8″ of chain from any craft/jewelry supply/hardware store

2. 1-2 feet of Ribbon, leather strips, lanyard or cording of your choice.

3. 2 Jump Rings

4. 1 clasp

5. Strong pliers or wire cutters

6. Clear Nailpolish

4. Rhinestone chain (from craft or fabric store)

Step 1: Lay out the length of chain, rhinestones and leather/ribbon/cording that you want to use

Step 2: Wrap the lanyard around the chain holding the rhinestones in place

Step 3: Tie off the ends of the lanyard, and then attach a jump ring and clasp

Step 4: Apply nailpolish to the knot and let dry for it to hold

You’re done! I made a bunch to stack up high with my true friendship bracelets from my students. They more color and bling, the better!
